1999 Courier fuel guage

My 1999 petrol courier's fuel gauge has started to play up whn the engine is on and not moving it reads correct, when I start to drive and stop at lights it dips down towards the empty, then moves up and down again. Any ideas

Re: 1999 Courier fuel guage

Top off the tank and see if it imoproves. It is the fuel sloshing around in the tank that it making the gauge fluctuate. The sending unit on the fuel pump probably needs to be replaced. Get the whole assembly--pump,, sending unit, float and fuel pickup--to replace it.

That worked fine until the fuel dropped to where it was last week when the problem happened, The fuel gauge is doing the same as it was when I started the Thread.
