Question 4 quick questions about some mods.

OK recently I've been looking into down pipes and wide bands. Also audio equipment but that's not as important.

Downpipes : I've been looking at downpipes and trying to compare. BUt to the eye they all look pretty similar. The 3sx downpipe kit, the stillen and the megan. I'm leaning towards 3sx but of course always the high pricing. Can anyone give some insight?

Now the wide band. I'm pretty set on the Aem wide band. The only thing I don't know is with the aftermarket exhaust and downpipe where would I have to tap into?

The BOV I was reading and noticed that ppl are saying if you don't recir. them it can cause problems. Has anyone had problems with the HKS SSQY?

And last audio. I'm looking for a good sound quality that hits fairly hard... only thing is trying to find a custom box for behinde the read seats. Does anyone know where to get them ?

Thanks

as far as i know, the main difference btween aftermarket downpipes is just size, price, and whether or not they are "racing"(cat-delete) or not. they're all pretty close to the same y-shape.

Re: 4 quick questions about some mods.

with a downpipe, unless you have solid or poly motor mounts, get one with a flex section (stillen and 3sx both have one i believe. i dont think the Megan racing does).

with the BOV, personally i'd only run closed. knowing that i'm running rich at times would sit in the back of my mind and make me uneasy. 3/s ownership is hard enough on the nerves as it is.

Re: 4 quick questions about some mods.

ok to start off i have a stillen downpipe and i love it but the 3sx is also real nice looking cuz i know it stops before the main cat so you have options with high flow cats or straight pipe.

As for the wideband yes AEM is the best and i know that my stillen downpipe cam with two bung for o2's and plugs so you could put it into one of those. And im sure the 3sx have at least one bung as well.

As for BOV i have the HKS SSQV and i like it alot for the sound but ya autostradavr4 is right about it running rich. if you dont want to risk anything just go with a recirculated BOV and yes the HKS SQQV does have a recirc fitting.

For some bumps there are alot of options out there i woulld reccommend JL audio and as for a custom box well there are two different types that are usually being sold on ebay. One fits behind the rear seats which is real nice but its very thing so it narrows your choices of subs. I bought one off ebay that sits in the back corner of the trunk by the tail lights. It is very deep and gives you a ton of options.

Hope all this helps you out

Re: 4 quick questions about some mods.

Yea that helps thanks, so I wasn't to far off on my options. I was leaning towards JL and i looked on ebay but only found ones for a Galant vr4 trunk and an Eclipse. I saw the one that takes up your whole trunk but that would kinda suck. I'll check into the corner ones though

and thanks for the smiley ha

I'm leaning towards 3sx but of course always the high pricing. Can anyone give some insight? we had a 3sx downpipe on our old 97 3000GT, and after about a year, it started cracking (no flex section). I'm not sure how the quality is now vs. when we bought that one, or if they've added a flex section, so, just be cautious with those. I have a stillen on my 91 TT. I like it.

The BOV I was reading and noticed that ppl are saying if you don't recir. them it can cause problems. Has anyone had problems with the HKS SSQY? I had an hks ssq on my ATX AWD TT 3000GT. I loved it, it wasn't too loud, but loud enough. I've noticed that it sounds different on different cars. It sounded more like a sneeze on Hans' lambo yellow stealth TT, than it did on my ATX AWD TT. Second in line is the greddy type S, it has a real nice sound, but is fairly quiet. it's a recirc. so you don't have to worry about stalling issues.

And last audio. I'm looking for a good sound quality that hits fairly hard... only thing is trying to find a custom box for behinde the read seats. Does anyone know where to get them ?
