Hi I have a 1992 Chevy Lumina APV 3.8L,
Changed the Ignition module, PRNDL circut, tensioner pully, water pump, and the fuel pump. It stalls as soon as you put it into gear (just Reverse) very annoying and can't afford to sink any more money into this thing. Does anyone have any clue as to what could be causing this. Thank-you all in advance for the help. Dawn |

Re: 92 Chev Lumina APV-Stalling in reverse??
MY first impression is that the TCC clutch is stuck...generally a problem with the TCC solenoid..hard to get to with the 4T60 transmission...but then it would also stall in other transmission ranges. What happens if you start in NEUTRAL then shift to a forward speed ? DO you feel the stall as a "solid" , lik eone releases a clutch on a sudden with a manual transmission?
...will it keep stalling f you disconnect the TCC plug (torque converter housing, front) ![]() ...it would then run only in 3rd gear...this is just for a test... mmm..what is the relation (in time , cause, effect) with all the parts you have already (recently?) replaced?

Re: 92 Chev Lumina APV-Stalling in reverse??
I have no clue it is up at my friends shop right now so I cant try anything. I got the other parts changed to try and fix this problem, it was stalling in drive sometimes to I would be going 60 take my foot off the gas and it would try to stall and the gadges would drop like 60 down to 40 then back up same with oil pressure and everything.

Re: 92 Chev Lumina APV-Stalling in reverse??
What you describe seems to be an electrical problem...I would suspect a failed ground return that ties computer, instrument panel, back-up lighting, fuel pump return...a common problem seen numerous times with various consequences. Identify some ground lead, possibly at C200 ground leads in left A pillar, forward of driver door, or whereever you find them, and rerun new grounds to engine block. There are ground splices under carpet that were proven corroded . This costs nothing, risks nothing, and might solve the problem....
