oil filter adaptor

I have a 89 z71 1500 4wd. The oil was shooting out like crazy and I determined that it was leaking from where the adaptor seals to the block. I am in the process of re sealing. My problem is that I cant get to the surfaces to clean and re-seal. Do I have to remove the hoses? How about anything else?

if you cant get it with out revoving hoses then thats what your going to have to do. you might take a rag and put it on something like a peace of wood or what ever you can get the rag to stay on to clean it..good luck...
