Just had alternator replaced. some symptoms ..

Hi all

I had an alternator replaced 2 years ago. It was still under warranty so I had it replaced again a few days ago. After getting it back, when I drive it at night, the instrument panel (speedometer, etc) lights, as well as my headlights sort of "pulse", brighter and dimmer rather quickly. It's not a hugely noticeable pulse, but noticeable none the less. My car radio also acts strangely now when I press the preset buttons. The light on it goes out for a second and it has trouble pulling in the station, then after a few seconds, pulls it in and the light comes on.

I was wondering what this all could be?

Thanks

Not sure if this is a more generic problem, but just in case it is helpful, this is occuring on a 1999 Mercury Cougar

I would make sure your ground wire is clean and tight. Otherwise I would suspect the voltage regulator is pulseing the system.

There's a TSB regarding this.
