Question on Power Output
I'm looking at getting a new head unit but I'm not finding any with really good RMS output for a decent price. For example I like the Pioneer DEH-P5000UB but the output is 14 watts RMS.
So, the question is, with components is that going to be enough to push them without distortion? FYI it is CEA-2006 compliant. Here are a few units I'm looking at. Amazon.com: Pioneer DEH-P5000UB In-Dash CD/MP3/WMA/iTunes AAC/WAV Receiver: Electronics Amazon.com: Clarion CZ309 CD/MP3/WMA/AAC Receiver and USB Port: Electronics Amazon.com: Sony CDX-GT630UI MP3/WMA/AAC Compliant CD Receiver with iPod Direct Control via USB: Electronics Amazon.com: Pioneer DEH-P6000UB In-Dash CD/Mp3/Wma/iTunes AAC/Wav Receiver: Electronics |

Re: Question on Power Output
No, It's not. You need an external amp to get the most out of after market speakers. You will be much happier in the end.

Re: Question on Power Output
What would you say the minimum is? I'd rather avoid an amp install with this car if I can.

Re: Question on Power Output
The fronts will be Focal 130V1 components. 5 1/4" mids and 1" tweets. The rears will just be some Kenwood 6x9s. There won't be a sub.

Re: Question on Power Output
they won't sound good off headunit power. THey will have distortion when you turn them up. I know you don't want to get an external amp but if you really want to use them it's your only option.

Re: Question on Power Output
you will need at least a 75X4 if you biamp them or 125-150X2 if you are gonna use the passive crossovers that come with them.

Re: Question on Power Output
Alright.
Now, this raises a question in my other car. It's got an Infinity Basslink I. It has a 200 watt class D amp on board. Do you think that would be sufficient for a set of similar components? |

Re: Question on Power Output
no, that amp will be a mono amp (1 channel) and will probably be designed for bass frequencies only
