90s rear drum leak alts

Hey all,

The cylinder has has lost it's pressure and greased up the drum. It's shot and needs to be replaced completely. (300$) But like the rest of the planet, I R broke. What alternatives are there? Can I clamp the line? Disconnect it from the MC? I can sign a waiver for info. ;]

The part is less than $20, an its not much more complicated than a brake job( as long as it isnt rusted too bad)

Re: 90s rear drum leak alts

Autozone has a cylinder for $13 and if you want to get real cheap you can get the rebuild kit for about $4. but you will need new shoes also.

Clamping the brake line? Doesn't sound like a good idea at all. Just refill the with brake fluid very often. But you need to get it done fast because it will turn from a small leak to a large leak very fast. Did all the brake fluid drain out before u discoverd this problem. If so you could have air in the lines on top of the leaking cylinder. I wouldn't be suprised if it was the rear cylinder on the passenger side that was leaking.

$300, Somebody trying to make a arm and leg off of you.

Re: 90s rear drum leak alts

One set of shoes $12.99 - one wheel cylinder $12.99 - 45 min labor to install both, results "priceless"!
