is there anyway to get better gas mileage?

i live in michigan and the speed limit is 70. @ 75 mph and 3,500 rpms the thing just heaves gas...is there anyway to get 5th gear down to around 2-2,500 rpms? thanks...

not without a different trans. people often get 10% taller 5ths when gettin rebuilds but thats about it

About the only thing you can do is drive slower. Or you could get taller tires. That would help but it would throw your speedo off.

bummer, alright i guess ill have to live with it...thanks for the input. oh and i did go from stock wheels and tires to 225/55 r16, that did help some...

go slower? it says 70, but i usually go 63ish on the slow lane and i've gotten 24 mpg for a to b but on a road trip going on a constant 65mpg, im getting at least 25-26 mpg.
