Seriouslly GREAT!!! MILEAGE..

LOL.hard to believe. My 97 SW Auto averages about 5-6cents per kilometre. Gas here has been about 75 to 80 cents/litre.I drive it about 3-4 times per week skiing..been a cold winter here..a lot of -15 to -25C drives. The ski trip drive is about 160-170km with about 100k of it being 100km/hr and the rest of it 80km/hr..small towns/stoplights speed reductions...etc. I did the math and it looks like about 16km/litre which is about X 4.56 L/gallon about 72/3 Km/gallon which is about 43/4/5 mpg Cdn (bigger than U.S gallon) U.S avge would be about 65 km/gal about 40mpg. Average. WOW. I use Pennzoil regular 10W30 oil. Have all season tires.

Re: Seriouslly GREAT!!! MILEAGE..

That's good fuel economy for a gasoline engine. My 1.8L diesel Escort does 58 mpg on long distance motorway trips, and 43 mpg around town. That's the larger imperial gallon though (4.55 litres per gallon), so in terms of the U.S. gallon (3.78 litres per gallon), that would be 48 mpg and 36 mpg respectively. We pay more for diesel than for petrol though (in the UK), so the financial benefit of the diesel engine's greater fuel economy is largely lost.
