2000 Honda Accord question
I want to buy a 2000 Honda Accord V6 fully loaded, leather interior good condition for $300 with one problem, they said it has shifting issues.
The car is automatic ,I recovered the codes and the only stored code is P0780 i looked at the transmission and it was low in transmission fluid, so I did not want to road test till I get some to fill it up, the color was a litlle dark but no burned oddor. The car has 132k miles and checking the VIN it was part of the transmission settelement but now is out of the extended warranty to try to call Honda, I don t know if even they will allow a ,,goodwill" repair request. Do you guys have any ideeas what to try? I know that a replacement trany is very expensive, does anybody know a decent mechanic in Chicago? Thank you. |

Re: 2000 Honda Accord question
I'm not much help...I looked in the Chicago area, found a couple of good used units for $700-$800...
I'm VERY skeptical of getting a good faith repair on something that far outta warranty, especially if not the original owner...usually you need some kind of pull at the dealer (valued repeat customer, etc) to pull that off...doesn't mean you can't try though... What was the nature of the defect that led to the settlement? I'm not familiar with it...

Re: 2000 Honda Accord question
It was some kind of issue with a bolt coming loose and forcing the transmission to loose hidraulic pressure and burn the 3 rd speed clutch or pressure plate.
