code 43
I got a '93 blazer w/ a 4.3 vortec. I got a code 43 for the ESC circuit after changing the steering box of all things. I did have the coil disconnected to prime the power steering pump and am assuming that it grounded to something it wasn't supposed to.
The motor now has reduced power/gas mileage. On the way home from work tonight after about ten miles the engine started having a backfire and a bad stumble and when the gas was floored after a few seconds it would kick on roughly full power. It didn't feel like a miss it just felt like funky timing as the code would indicate. I am assuming that the module got zapped. My question is this. After talking to a guy at the Chevy service department, as I wasn't sure if i blew out a piece of the PCM or the module. He told me that If the cruise control worked, the PCM was ok, as the module sends the engine speed imput to the PCM. I was wondering this, if the cruise control works that would also imply that the module is working too, correct? I don't see a whole lot of parts involved with this code. Is it possible that only a part of the module has gone bad? Or is there a possibility that whatever makes the distributor advance has gone bad? Thanks, -Mark

Re: code 43
Well, I did go out to check wire connections on the distributor and found a loose plug wire. Maybe that might help the stumble...will post back.

Re: code 43
Well it turned out to be a bad knock sensor connection that was damaged when moving around the steering shaft. Works good now.
