'05 Equinox w/98,400 miles -SMART or DUMB?
05 Equinox with 98,000+ miles for $13 Grand. Appears in good shape. Is this a smart buy?
Single mom, don't have money to waste on costly repairs! Vehicle being sold as 'As Is' |

Re: '05 Equinox w/98,400 miles -SMART or DUMB?
I live in Cincinnati, OH. The part I'm most concerned with is whether or not purchasing Equinox with 98,000+ miles is wise. Don't some cars die at the 100,000 mile mark. Don't most people trade in at that point?

Re: '05 Equinox w/98,400 miles -SMART or DUMB?
These days 100K miles is nothing for a vehicle. Yeah maybe the value goes down but not the reliability if it taken care of. It's been my experience that the interior goes before the drivetrain on newer cars. That's just my opinion.

Re: '05 Equinox w/98,400 miles -SMART or DUMB?
one thing to take into consideration is that those are hwy miles, 49k a year. The equinox, like the impalas are vehicles that are widely used as fleet vehicles for companies that provide their employees with vehicles. Most fleet vehicles have a strick maintenance schedule, often at dealerships. Hwy miles are less damaging than city miles.

Re: '05 Equinox w/98,400 miles -SMART or DUMB?
I have a firend looking at a similar vehicle. 2005 with 150K km. Are Equinox's reliable? Is the 3.4 engine the same as the one used in the 2000-2005 Impala's?
Anything thing in particular he should look for? I have done some research on the web for him and I am not liking what I am seeing. Problems with gas mileage, squeaks when going over bumps etc. Can someone confirm or deny these claims? |

Re: '05 Equinox w/98,400 miles -SMART or DUMB?
Our daughter has one 2005 LS that we are selling for 7,800.00 in ma. 69,000 miles. It has a squeak in the front when you go over bumps. I was told to go in there w/ a can of wd-40 and spray everything in sight? We had another noise in the front that was coming from the struts. Garage took struts off and greased bearings on top of struts. Took care of that noise. Gas milage is low 20's I think? very roomy in the back also. Oh ya the clicking noise under the dash we are trying to figure out too .But it has been dependable for her tho. Other than that we have done just brakes on it. jack
