Exclamation 04 Aveo radio issue

So, my girlfriend unfortunately has a 2004 Aveo that she bought new back in 2004. It has had a lot of issues, that being a mechanic I have had the pleasure of fixing . Anyway it has a radio issue that I cannot figure out....hope someone can help. The factory radio only works when you close a door, or drive over bumps. I installed a Pioneer deck in the car with the proper wire harness and dash kit that I bought through Crutchfield, but now the aftermarket one does this too. I'm assuming there is a short in the wiring somewhere, but I cannot find where. Of course, there is no warranty on the car and I do not want to take it to the stealership to have it fixed. Any ideas??? Thanks!!!

Re: 04 Aveo radio issue

The problem as a short is either the + power lead to the radio or the - ground is not making contact someplace in the circuit. OK you know that. First off I would would take the radio fuse out and then back in or replace it, even if it looks good. Could you run a separate ground wire from the ground of the harness or from the case itself to the frame of the car? The same holds true for the + hot wire to the radio. Run a separate hot wire rom a known power supply with the key in ACC or RUN. I'm thinking that you put in a new radio on the assumption it will work better than the factory original with a short. What a pain! Hope you get it fixed.
