oil pressure gage is erratic
i have a 1991 z28 with a 5.7 engine , the problem i have is a erratic oil pressure gage reading ,it is always topped out .is there some way to repair this so i get a accurate oil pressure reading? thx

i know what you mean, i have a '91 as well and my oil pressure gauge fluctuates a lot during idle. i'd be interested to see someone's suggestions for this problem as well. sorry i wasn't of much help

If the gauge is constantly pegged I would say the wiring is chaffed and grounded out for the sending unit.

Most likely an "oil logged " sending unit-- You can test actual oil pressure with a mechanical plumbed in gage-- or just splurge for the new sending unit..
