Talking Tires for 17' wheels

Hello all I,m new to this forum so please bear with me,I am currently running 17 in ICW racing wheels with 205-40r17 tires on my 91 vw jetta but I seem to be wearing out the tires at a fast rate I have just had a front end alignment done and I keep my tires rotated but I am still not satisfied with the tire wear so I was curious to find out what other people are running on their oversize rims I would like to know what brand seem to hold up the longest I do alot of driving on the weekends through the mountains and would prefer not to have a blowout any and all help on this subject would be greatly appreciated thanks

What kind of mileage have you been getting from your tires? Make sure you're running VW recommended air pressure as low PSI will accelerate wear.

Most 40 series tires are engineered for max grip and therefore tend to have a softer compound that wears pretty fast.

Your best solution may be to focus on getting the best value tire has it will wear at similar rate but your cost per mile goes down because of low replacement cost EG Kumho Ecsta Supra 712 and similar tires.
