5.7 roller rockers 93 gmc new motor

Hows it goin guys? good well what do you think roller rockers or not ? I am torn are they worth doin labor wise I mean the money isn't the issue. Just wondering if a guy will benefit from this upgrade? They claim 15 to 20 horse from comps magnum rollers but I'm not that gullible. Although the theory is sound. Less resistance = More efficiency lets here what you think. Thanks

Re: 5.7 roller rockers 93 gmc new motor

How many miles on your engine?
Roller lifters are good but.
If it is not broke I would not try to fix it.
Have you checked to see if you may already have them?

Not sure what a change over would cost.

If it was me I would leave it like it is and just save my money for a brand new GM good wrench engine when needed.

Re: 5.7 roller rockers 93 gmc new motor

Are you ready to pull the heads and have the machine work done??
Needs new screw in studs and new heavy springs too.
Not sure what it will cost but I would guess 300.00 for the work.
Going to need new head gaskets and a bolt kit another 200.00
Plus the cost of the rockers...Getting costly!
Can you even run the cam you have???I dont think so.
Maybe look into a whole kit price(cam lifters pushrods rockers)
I dont think you will even notice you have new rockers unless you convert the whole thing .THEN you WILL get the gains they are talking about.
Good luck.

I think the question is whether he will notice a performance gain by installing roller rocker arms, not roller lifters. Even though roller rockers are a definate mechanical improvement over the original stamped units. I would have to say that you wouldn't notice any performance gain by their installation.

Re: 5.7 roller rockers 93 gmc new motor

yea I am looking at roller rockers not a roller cam swap. I just believe the gains may be false because in my experience. You cannot bolt on 12 horsepower for 200.00 dollars hell sometimes you cant bolt on 2 horsepower for that amount. I was just wondering if someone has done this and seen this huge gain from an hour bolt on project??
