Would you take $535 as a salvage value?

First of all, Hello,
Second, we had a mint condition '95 oldsmobile 98 that got totalled in a rear end collision. This car was flawless, and had just got 1400 dollars of work done to it by my grandpa who gave it to my brother as his first car just 3 months ago. Our offer was 3100 from the insurance company for the car, with a salvage value of 535. I don't know much about the market for parts for this car, so I'm wondering if it is worth it to take the car back and part it out. If anyone wants parts for it chime in now and if it adds up to a couple hundred dollars we will keep the car.
Thanks,
Greg

Owner buy back for around $500 is typical but the decision is up to you.

If you get it back and decide to part it out then please use our Cars/Parts for Sale/Exchange forum. See link below.

you can sell moter and tranny and get your money back and probably more than 500 on this.the moter itself is worth at the least 500 and if trannys good you could atleast another 500 and thats cheap because if someones tranny go's out on them your talking $2500 to get one rebuilt. but thats just my opion on parting it out.

Thanks for the advice guys, the only thing I'm worried about is demand for those parts in this area, I think I have seen one other 98 driving around. Everything does work great though so maybe I will keep it.
