Borla Exhaust: go or no-go?
i've been thinking of getting a new exhaust system for a while now as i am just not satisfied with the look, sound, or flow, of the stock one. i found this cool little package from Borla( http://www.borla.com/applications/lo...System/15443/)
and i think i might wanna get it but it seems pretty pricey. what i wanna know is whether or not this a good system and also whether it is worth the money. on that note, if anyone knows a cheaper place to source it from, please let me know as always, any and all help is much appreciated BTW i live in California so emmision laws do apply but i dont think that should really matter, right? |

Re: Borla Exhaust: go or no-go?
I think you guys are nuts, I can't stand Borla. There are 5 VR4's here with Borla systems right now, I see Borlas all the time. Its very raspy, and irritating at high speeds. Keep tylenol in the car for the headaches it gives you on long drives. Borla and ATR had the only sytems available back in the day so there are alot of them out there. Then a little while ago a couple shops started doing custom setups using straight 3.5" piping back split into 2 3" pipes into Apex N1's. They sound absolutely amazing. A deep, mean sound thats very aggressive but not over bearing. Vibrant mufflers also produce an identical sound. As a matter of fact, we had several cars where we cut off the borla mufflers, then welded on adapters and then the N1's using the existing borla piping. Still the same but 3" pipe instead of 3.5". I would reccommend buying Vibrant or Apex N1 mufflers off a shop or ebay, then having an exhaust shop build a custom setup for you. I am sure you will be much happier than with the Borla's.

Re: Borla Exhaust: go or no-go?
Im not a fan of the N1's on our cars, whether TT or NA. Borla has a nice deep rumbly sound.

Re: Borla Exhaust: go or no-go?
i'm revisiting this idea guys, since im getting a pretty hefty tax return
. but anwway, now im debating between this setup, and the 2 others on 3sx: the tanabe concept or the JIC twin spartan. anything i get will be catback since this is a street car. now im wondering what kind of power increases i could expect from each of these, and whether or not the other 2 are worth the 500 dollars more, since the borla is cheapest. help? |

Re: Borla Exhaust: go or no-go?
I've done 1 jic exhaust. It is absolutely beautiful and sounds great. Fitment is excellent. The tanabe exhaust fits nice too. My older customers prefer me to change the tips on them because they think it is too "boy racer"

Re: Borla Exhaust: go or no-go?
ok so here is a link to my wish list on 3sx, (since that is easier than typing out everything) showing the parts i would like to get. http://3sx.com/store/comersus_wishListPublic.asp?email=this_stentorium@ hotmail.com&idCustomer=10744
im now thinking that the downpipe, with a random tech highflo cat and the tanabe concept would be pretty cool. my next question is whether or not these three things will attach correctly to each other. i think they should but im not positive. and also, the biggest question: this setup would cost almost 2k, so is it worth it? and this wont make me fail emmissions will it? thanks again guys |
