Well, I got into a race with the Turtle.

In the truck of all things.

I just left my place in the truck to go grab a bite to eat. I choose burger king for this nights meal, been awhile since I've been there. Anyways pulling outta my neighborhood onto the main street up ahead I see a 3rd Gen Camaro pull out of the McDonalds with a 2nd Gen Prelude following it. They both gas it up ahead of me and by the way they were driving I can tell they were speeding and fooling around.

The got stopped at the light up ahead and gave me time to roll up on them. It was a long light. The Camaro took the center lane and the Prelude took the right lane. I pulled on the left lane, sorta stealth like.

The two guys in the Camaro were checking out the girl and she was talking to them. But they were inching on each other at the light so I slowly power braked it up a bit, but not to much. It's been raining here all day and the slight streets give me no traction in a ass-light pickup truck with worn tires.

The light went green and they both hesitated a bit, once I saw that they were going for it I matted the the old tired 5.3L V8 and I came out of the hole like a raped ape and pulled a decent truck lenght on them. As we came up to the next light the guys were looking over at me laughing. I was laughing at them. The chick had no sense of humor at all. Bitch.

We lined up again at the next light, this time I didn't hold back on the power brake. Light went green and once again they got eaten out of the hole. I pulled a solid 2 truck lengths on the Camaro and Prelude. I let off and they kept going, then I got back into when they were at my tailgate and I pulled on them again.

The light ahead went red and we all came to a quick stop, it quickly changed back to green and we came off the line all stupid. This time I lost traction and was spinning both my rears but I was still grabbing enough on the wet pavement to get the lead... again. I realised I was doing nearly 30mph in 1st gear spinning 5600rpm and was roasting the tires. I let off all the way and felt the ass wiggle back into shape and before I lost my momentum I nailed the throttle again and got a bark out of the tires and pulled ahead a bit further only to shut down once more cause my turn was up.

The two kept going... I was laughing my ass off, and told my truck "You're still the shit!"

Even with 140,000+ on her. The Trutle strikes again!

Good friggin times. Happy holidays kids, be safe out there.

Re: Well, I got into a race with the Turtle.

Man...I kinda miss the small thrills of racing. I haven't really had a solid race even worth mentioning, nonetheless, even a small dash worth considering to be called a race. Pretty much been about 2-3 years. Although, I have said I have done a few dashes here and there, I don't think much of them. Don't really rememeber them much either.

Glad to see when of the fellow seniors around here still enjoys a good race or two whenever he can squeeze them in.

Bitchin shit Matty, my boy.

Nice race. We have snow on the ground here now so racing is kind of out of the question lol.

While this is true, I still would definately not even consider AWD to be safe racing grounds on the snow...however, I have been having some fun with the VR4 in the snow.

Chevy/GMC trucks last forever, I swear. My father has an '01 Z71 with a 104k on it. I drove it a couple months ago and that engine pulls just as strong as it did when it was brand new.

Hahahahah, she would if she worked at McDonalds. I went back to that McD's a few days later and saw the Prelude in the parking lot. I couldn't see the girl who drove it, she might of been in the back manning the bun warmer or something.
