Question Adding power antenna to 95 Lumina

I've seen a few power antennas floating around on eBay for 95-01 Luminas. My 95 Lumina doesn't have a power antenna, but I was wondering how hard it would be to add a power antenna to it? Has anyone ever done this before? Any idea on where to get instructions?

Never installed a power one antenna... I would install it, ground it, and wire it to something that only comes on when the key is on. That way when you turn the car on, it comes up, but goes down when off. Im sure there is a constant power though, if not the antenna would not go down. LoL
Sorry if this doesnt help . LOL
Just my 2 Cents

Re: Adding power antenna to 95 Lumina

So you think there is enough room to install it back there? It probably needs much more vertical room than my current antenna does.

Any idea what is back there that only starts when the key is on that I could wire it to?

If the voltage level is roughly the same you could wire it on the radio fuse. That only comes on when the car is in on postion. There is more than likely a constant power lead to, so the antenna goes down when the car goes off. You could check it out.

How about if you want to listen to the radio with the engine off? Find a source that supplies power in ACCESSORIES and ON. Probably the power for the radio is the best source then. Roomwise you should be able to install one.

Re: Adding power antenna to 95 Lumina

Well you must have 11.5 inches in your fender below the antena to mount a power antenna I have done research and this is the minimum clearence req'd so pull your stock antenna and measure if you read 11.5 then go ahead your good and your new antenna will come with instructions so any moron can install it good luck
