96 Jetta with 2.0 5sp Oil everywhere

I just helped my sister buy a 96 Jetta for my Nephew for Christmas but it has a bad oil leak and I "think" it is coming from the valve cover gasket. Just wanted to make sure it would not be a cam seal? I'm pretty good with cars and told her I would fix it but I have never worked on a Jetta. It runs good and sounds good but has a nasty leak.
Also, the drivers electric window will not roll down with the switch BUT it WILL roll down with the key in the door. The guy said he replaced the switch but it didn't fix it. What else could it be?
Any help would be great. I'm trying to fix the few problems so she can give it to him for Christmas/Graduation present. His old car has about had it.

Got the valve cover on it and seems to have stopped all of the oil leaking. (found it really don't have a cam seal on the back side)
Still don't know what to do about the drivers window. I guess we will have to take it somewhere. Bad thing is...there is NOT VW dealer anywhere near here.

I dont know anything about Jetta electric window stuff, but have had a couple of older cars with electric windows. I would examine the connectors to the window switch, and the "door key" switch. And look at the wiring bundle that runs from the door to the body - looking for a wire that has worn out from the movement of the door opening and closing.
