buick regal upper and lower intake

I was told I need a upper and lower intake because the gasket is leaking. Can someone send me a picture of what a intake is and tell me what it does and where it is located.

Also is this a do it yourself job or should I let a pro do it?

Anybody have directions on how to change the upper and lower intake and put a new gasket on.

It is a 2000 regal with a 3800 engine with 155,000 miles. Is it worth it to fix this or not?

DIY if you are DIY capable is better. Cost will be under $200 or less for parts.

You do not need the actual intake manifolds but the gaskets, in most cases. UIM plenum gasket, throttle body gasket and the lower intake manifold port and end piece gaskets and other consumables. Check out the Buick Tips & Maintenance subforum which has more info on the UIM and LIM gaskets.

Do you have a picture? Where is the upper and the lower gaskets?
Is there something I can put in there to stop the leak?

I have plenty of pics to share on the job since I have done quite a few DIY on the SII 3800 N/A engine. See below.

I am not sure stop leak or sealant tabs will work. How bad is the leak? How often do you have to re-fill the coolant reservoir? Where is it exactly?

Pic of new LIM gaskets installed. Felpro brand.

Pic of UIM removed and old gaskets.

Re: buick regal upper and lower intake

I have to refill the reservoir about once a week.

Is there step by step directions I can get to do the job?
