AF GB 60 Red Years: Ferrari New 333SP ex F666
You think I fogot uh? Yep I tried, but those dammn banner remember me once in a whyle
. Time to do the good kid.2 words before start the most complex and exciting project in my modelling life: the plan. - It would be my tribute to the Ferrari myth but also to one of my preferred cars: the F333Sp, born in '97. Just google if you haven'y in mind but I guess most know and love it. What I liked most in this car is that (she) born in the mind of a businessman and gentleman driver: Mr. Moretti, the owner of MOMO factory. He was able to push Ferrari to design the car and make it with the help of the amazing Mr. Michelotto's factory that done most of the racing Ferrari sports. - So since I have already several 333 kits (ok I have only 3 LOL ) I decided to design and make the F333 son, it would be the 2007 New F333 SP, the 333 10 years later.- This was the start: ![]() When I done this rough, I wanted just to dress an Enzo chassis with a new body. No guys, this isn't the spirit of the 333: and so I decided to open the thread in the Motorsport section: my would be a RACER! I'm not an expert on LM/ALMS rules but I tried to designing something joining those. THE PLAN. At now I designed the beast. So until now just virtual 3d modelling LOL. I wanted to show the whole body shell in primer, but seems right to me show you ( and so to take advamtage of you experience, imagination, friendship ) the stuff from the design, so I'll change something before start the build. This would be a 100% (or almost) scratchbuilt curbside product, but for the body shell I want (ever if I can effort) to use some rapid prototyping tech: all would be in the spirit of the WIP. So you'll see the job from the idea to the display. I pray mods to let me keep designs here and not move them on the design/art forum: I don't care to show my designs, I need them here to discuss the project with the friend that want help me with advices. Ok guys let me show how I done.

Re: AF GB 60 Red Years: Ferrari New 333SP ex F666
My first idea to do the 666 was that:
![]() LOL! Ok back serious ![]() I started with a rough, the base idea is those of cutted front fenders, it's ever a barchetta, and it should have an appeal that remind the ferrari spirit. (Not easy uh?) The first (and only) rough: ![]() Well I developed quickly a 3d model (surface, later I need to work in a solid-closed model) with a NURBS parametric software, this mean that I'll do all changes I want (I'll convert it in a 4 doors easily LOL, naaaaa). I didn't designed rims and details to keep the focus on the overall shape. Let me know how you think: right now, managed the corrections, I have to work a bit to have a solid model and I guess at first days of September I'll do the proto for the body shell and in case for rims. It would be a strictly curbside model, just like a 1/24 BBR o LMM (hopefully). Let me show something now: ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() I'm very happy to receive your comments, and criticism (also negative/honest LOL) any advice and idea may help me to do a better stuff and save money and time. Thanks a lot for reading. Ciao gio

Re: AF GB 60 Red Years: Ferrari New 333SP ex F666
being the ever practical sort of designer I have a quick question for now; have you thought about the panel/body work sections? A current ferrari trend is to work openings for intakes and whatnots by using the edges of panels.
One other thing; if that was a real car, it will need a hell of a lot of cooling vents on the rear part of the shell. If you haven't seen it already, the Caparo T1 is pretty much as minimalistic as a car you're going to get. From that, you can get a pretty good idea of what a car does or doesn't need. I'm not 100% on this but I don't think your design conforms to the closed wheel rule, if this matters... Nice modelling by the way. Max, Maya, Rhino or brand new Autocad 2007/2008?

Awesome rendering you have done there I think your really on to something with your concept. I can’t tell about ALMS rules but I know if this where a real model kit I buy one today looking forward to seeing what you come up with.

I am not even going to try and give advise or input - I am just going to sit back and enjoy you build this!
![]() Just do it the way you feel it - but above all finish it! ![]() In this photo I can't avoid impressions of a cycle-fendered F1 ![]()

Re: AF GB 60 Red Years: Ferrari New 333SP ex F666
@drunken monkey: I'll answer to tech question later: I'm still studying the '07 ACO tech regulations. From the first look I don't think my design is 100% against rules but there's something here and there that need to be corrected, and I'm considering just the body work/aerodynamics/safety noticeable stuff since mine would be curbside. Doing the job, and since it would be expencive, I want to do right.
For the back cooling vents: I planned to place some vents just over the wheels, also in front (black area over light) but if you look at any LM/ALMS car they are almost closed: hot air, expecially if indexed from tha cold air flux coming from front, is precious for the rear extractor. So just a couple of nacas and intakes for brakes. I seen the caparo, on EVO mag. : those isn't a racecar, they need to keep the cockpit fresh if they want to sell the car . It's definitely cool but not the kind of car I'm talking here .The model is very stark for the moment: I wanted just to have an idea of overall shapes, when defined, I'll design deeply the stuff. I done it with my usual 3D NURBS software: Solid Thinking , is very similar to Rhino, but more professional to me (and in fact cost more LOL), link: http://www.solidthinking.com/index-en.htm You'll see few other my automotive jobs in their site http://www.solidthinking.com/products/gallery/index.htm gallery>automotive>photoset2>last 3 picts. I'm just a product designer but I love automotives so I use those subject to experiment SW potentials, and at last... to play LOL. Thanks you all for your attention/comments, @ julian: my first giokit (LOL) would be for sale in September/October under the new brand Scuderia.Italia.lab that I created with two partners, but wouldn't be this one obviously, this is just for me . Let me upgrade my AF account and I'll say all

Re: AF GB 60 Red Years: Ferrari New 333SP ex F666
I love this concept and applaud you for your work so far, but as a fan of the ALMS, I dont think your separate front wheel arches are currently ACO legal, if you are concerned with that. There were two prototypes with something like your front fender design over the last 5 years, that being the Dallara LMP1 and the Lola EX257 but that type of separation is now illegal. Being that this is totally a conceptual design, I encourage you to do what you want and not worry about the technical legallity of the car to current rules.
I know I wouldnt think any less of this model if it isnt completely legal or practical for that matter, sportscar rules are always changing anyway. Best of luck on this project rick |

![]() The fact is that the wheel would be covered all around, also inside, and no mechs stuff would be visible, so I guess would be hard do thiny fenders like mine (trimmed inside to allow streering and wheel housing). BTW the Lola you mentioned was one of my inspirations I guess, I'm ever impressed by those cool design. Quote:
If I have to follow my natural instinct I want to do also separate fenders in back, something like the Kia concept but with the aero extractor in back: ![]() I'll try and show soon.

Re: AF GB 60 Red Years: Ferrari New 333SP ex F666
good point about the 908, but often the ACO turns a blind eye to the benefit of the french manufacturer. I dont know the letter of the rules, but I was under the impression that that wasnt legal. The 908 also has a very narrow cockpit which would seem not to be fully within the rules of a two-seater but cleverly got around this by having the driver sit slightly below the deck of the side-pod with an access panel.
Like I stated before, build it how you want it, your ideas are what is important here along with your interpretation of a prototype, not to the letter of any current rules. If you want to build something and be exact and have everyone hose it down with a flashlight, looking for things that dont belong, build an airplane. carry on my friend rick |

Re: AF GB 60 Red Years: Ferrari New 333SP ex F666
Done some job on the basis of ACO regulations (2007), link: http://www.lemans.org/sport/sport/re...to2007_gb.html
this is a summary: ![]() There are a lot of other articles for openings, intakes and mostly for the car's underside. Look like separated fenders are allowed (if not ban with a specific art. : I didn't read deeply all) I'll like to know how I'm against with those rules, for sure the whole underside are wrong, with lateral sides and front splitter are to re-design: I'll do some adjustement but the basic shape would be what I formely done
