Unhappy Sold the STi

And the kid who bought it proceeded to get drunk and wreck it two days later...also killed the lady he hit...what a crock..

He tried to tell the police the throttle was stuck open, as soon as i read that i knew i was gonna get a phone call. Sure enough a week later im in a meeting with the police explaining to them that it would be impossible for a throttle by wire cars throttle to get stuck (well almost impossible). Plus he was going 130 mph when he hit the lady so im sure there was plenty of time if he wanted to hit the brakes or pop it in neutral.

What's weird is when he took the car from me and dropped me off at enterprise so i could get something to drive for a day i had a bad feeling and walked back out to watch the car drive off one last time...premonition maybe? Anyway i thought the whole deal was messed up, i'm happy to be rid of payments and insurance but that car was cherry, only had 19K miles on it..a 2004.. Plus a lady is dead cause of my friends carelessness.

But this seems to happen a lot, everyone i seem to talk to has a story like this, they sell their baby and the kid wrecks it. Anyone else?

Sucks that happened dude. Very unfortunate someone had to suffer because of his carelessness.

Although, I'm glad you finally found someone to take it from you, even though it wasn't me...

As for what's happened to my last two cars:

The Civ is still putting around. My cousin didn't care for it too well. Resulting in replacing the tranny. Then, forgetting to change the oil, and most can figure out where that leads too if you don't do it. But, she is still driving it on a daily basis which means she atleast enjoys the car still.

And the Eclipse. The car was sold to some friends of mine that owned their own customization shop. I've seen some of the cars they had finished and I'm quite proud of the work they do. Unfortunately, the last I heard, they painted my car a "candy-apple blue" and threw on some body kit. I wasn't too pleased about hearing the body kit story. I just threw on a front lip and felt that was plenty for any type of stylish add on.

They left the interior stock. Haven't changed the rims. Haven't changed much of else. Although, they did finally throw in the 16G I had with all the goodies I tossed in with it. So, eventually I'll pay them a visit and see how the car looks. Maybe take some pictures of it to see for myself how it really looks.

That's to bad, i still have some good pictures of it on my facebook if you want to reminisce my friend. What's worse about the accident is the lady he killed was a single mom with an 8 year old daughter.

Re: Sold the STi

Ehh, I used to own a 1997 Dodge Ram (when I was 16, I liked it then) and sold it to friend who proceeded to run it into a tree 2 weeks later. The truck was in perfect condition too. Sorry to hear about the lady losing her life. It was your friend you say that you sold it to? What a crock story about the throttle being stuck open. The only time that has ever happend to me was in the VR4 in which case the pedal managed to get stuck under the floor mat. When it happend I just through it in 6th gear (I was going like 30mph) so that the rpms would jump down to about 1100...problem solved.

Re: Sold the STi

It's kind of frustrating to hear stories like that. It makes me mad when people die because of the incompetence of others.

I've sold several cars since I got married. I've sold a 95 Honda Civic, 00 Dodge Neon, 84 Ford Conversion Van, 99 VW Passat, 00 Jeep Chk., 80 Datsun 210, 89 Lebaron Turbo, and a 94 Ford Explorer. The only one I see around is the Neon. Still going strong.

Re: Sold the STi

I found Cassie over the weekend. Out Christmas shoping with the girl, blue 325i rolls buy, even had the window sticker from the CAI still on. Saw some guy getting in, just to be sure I asked him about it. Said he picked it up over a year ago at the same BMW dealership I dropped it at, lease turn in WAY over miles. I was like...no shit, that used to be my car...wanna trade it for a Mazda?

Sucks to hear about the lady dying. Ah well, such is life. And it sucks that it used to be your car.

Re: Sold the STi

I saw the subject of this thread and was about to start hating on you for getting rid of that gorgeous machine without giving it to me! But when I red the story I figured that would be a little out of place.

Sucks that someone had to die for his stupidity. Plus, he doesnt have the balls to man up to what he did and he has to lie about it. Sorry to hear about it, man.
