Re: Snow Plow?

A SNOW PLOW can cause a problem if mounting it on your ZJ, I have not seen this for fact but have heard of many stories. Because the Impact sensor for the Air Bag system is mounted on the front bumper the snow plow can bounce around alot and sometimes violent enough to cause the sensor to think there was an impact and cause the AIR BAG(S) to deploy.

Re: Snow Plow?

What is a ZJ? Also i forgot to add that the car is really in bad shape and i would only use it for snow plowing in itself(its not worth enough to sell and i can make money snow plowing), so it doesnt bother me really if the car gets screwed up from it(can always take air bag out, right?)

Re: Snow Plow?

a ZJ is the body style of GRAND CHEROKEE you have, 93-98 Grand Cherokees are known as ZJ's, 99-04 - WJ, 05-up are WK.

Yes I do beleive you can d/c the Air Bag Module and if I am correct the Air Bag Module is located under the center consol right behind the E-Brake lever.

Re: Snow Plow?

snow plows can cause a lot of damage to the drive trains of small trucks like jeeps and small pickups. the big full size plows undergo constant repairs for this. but if you are determined it shouldn't hurt the airbag, it requires 3 of 4 sensors on the bumper to be affected to go off. that way they dont go off at every slight bump against something. I used to sell these thingsand a plow voided the warranties.

Re: Snow Plow?

Yes the Snow Sport is an "Ok" plow if you only plan on doing 1 property. Its kind of a hassle because you have to get out of the jeep, walk to the front of the plow on one side, drop it, walk to the other side and drop it. There arent any pumps so everything is lifted and dropped by hand. Which is ok if you just doing a driveway or a small property. I had my Snow Sport for less then a month and then I sold it and bought a Western. They dont make Hydralic or Electric Plows for Jeep Grand Cherokee's (93-98) so I had a buddy of mine make a custom Bracket. Just make sure you disconnect your airbag modules because they will blow out. Ive been plowing for 10 years with different plows & trucks and so far my jeep is the best plow ive had. Easy to manuver, light and dependable.

i doubt the drive train would live long plowing in a grand. anyhow don't worry about the relays just pull the fuses for the air bags. while you're at it if it's in that bad of shape i'd go ahead and pull the abs fuse too. i doubt that pump works any more and if it doesn't having it try is worse than not having it at all. also i'd get a fiberglass plow or look for some much heavier front springs than what you have.
