|
white smoke and water comeing out the tailpipe
well my car was low on anti freeze so i put some in and it just started to shoot white smoke and water out the muffler what could it be please help. I am in the service and my only car.

Welcome to AF!!
If the water smells like antifreeze then you have a blown head gasket. That is probably why the antifreeze was low in the first place. Not a cheap fix unless you have some friends who are mechanics or you can do the work yourself.

Since you did not identify the year & engine, I assume you have a 92 Regal listed in your profile which has a 3.1 engine.
 If so, when this engine is overheated, it is common to develop a hairline crack in the head within the combustion chamber area. Never assume that a head gasket will solve the problem! You need to take the head(s) to an automotive machine shop for a detailed inspection.

Blown head gaskets are not that common on the 3.8 (3800 - Vin L) however, I suppose it depends low long it was run without coolant. You need to do a coolant pressure test first. Most shops have the tool & knowledge to do this.
