98 3.0 Heater core
I'm getting weak heat from the dash, so I'm going to assume its my heater core. The temp gage acts funny also. I am having trouble finding spacifics on a 98. 96 Ranger requires the dash to be removed, which looks like a choir. Anyone had to do the heater core on a 98 3.0? Do i seriously need to remove the dash and airbags?
Any feedback is greatly appreciated folks. Just trying to decide if I want to tackle this one or let the shop strugle with it at my expence? JP |

Re: 98 3.0 Heater core
Why do you suspect your heater core? If it's leaking, you'll see coolant coming out. If it's clogged up, feel the temperature difference between the heater hose going in and one leaving. If there is no noticeable difference, then either the heater valve is not working or your core is restricted. Also check the operation of the louvres. They may not be positioning correctly in response to the switch, and of course your blower is OK?

Re: 98 3.0 Heater core
Ended up just changing thermostat and drain and fill on coolant. This fixed the problem. But I can see I need to flush the coolant system. Working like a champ again.
