Re: transmisson

Does it take low and reverse gear good when cold?
Is the fluid level good hot in park?
Has the filter and fluid ever been serviced?
Has the transmission ever been worked on?
Any transmission codes or check engine lights?

Re: transmisson

Fluid level check when hot in parK?
Check engine and transmission for codes.
Post Back codes?
Drop pan and.
Check trans filter and fluid condition.
Also note what is in bottom of transmission pan!!!!

Re: transmisson

I think the reason most folks don't change that filter is because you have to remove that cross brace to get the pan off. It is a real PITA. Chevy, in their wisdom, put the nuts on those bolts inside the box frame. When I reassembled mine I put the nuts on the outside. Anyone that has done this knows what I mean....

'95 must be different from the '98; there's only 1 'hard access' bolt in the '98 pan, which holds the shifter linkage...

kvn; it doesn't shift till 500 ft. You mean doesn't shift into second - right?

I think most 4L60e does that, although maybe not quite 500 ft. 1st gear in my '98 Jimmy 4L60e 180k, and my '94 vette 4L60e 87k both carry 1st gear a few feet extra when cold.

Next time in the morning, let it warm up for AT LEAST 10 minutes. Put it in D, back to R, then go, and see if it does it. It still might do it anyway, but just try it...
