Need Help!!

I pulled my distributor to change out ignition module, rotor, cap, and coil. Got all changed out and put back in. Now it will not start. I'm afraid it got out of timing. I've tried to set it, but i am having no luck in starting truck. Need advice. 93' GMC 5.7.

Re: Need Help!!

Was it running before you done that/
Are you getting good hot blue spark out of coil and coil wire?

If so find and clean off timing marks.
Pull no one spark plug and crank engine untill you feel compression stroke on no 1 plug.
Rool engine up to TDC compression stroke and set dist with rotor point to no 1 spark plug wire on dist cap.

Re: Need Help!!

Proper testing before throwing paqrts at it.
Codes do not say replace parts but to check it out.
What did you do to get it running?
What all was it doing before you worked on it?
On the PCM change was it a used one and did you keep/swap your old prom?
Have you checked and set base timing by disconnecting the timing wire?
Has you checked the TBI base gasket?
Vacume leaks and engine missing?
Have you cleared codes?
What code comes back first?

If codes keep coming back get a good repair manual or the all data online sub and go threw the repair flow charts for the codes.

Re: Need Help!!

The truck has always run rough since i bought it. Has a new motor in it now. I have trouble starting it when cold and if it starts it wont idle until it warms up. THen it idles about 1500rpms. Changed out temps sensor too. Truck runs real rich and gets horrible mileage. I changed out ecm with used one and put my PROM in it. My mechanics around here cant figure anything out.

Re: Need Help!!

Go back to the basics.
How is the compression?
Any engine missing cylinders?
What is the engine vacuum at idle and at 2K rpm?
Is the dist and dist shaft in good shape?
Good hot blue spark to all cylinders?
Good Ac delco plugs?
