Question Seatbelts?

I had to buy a new drivers side seatbelt for my 83 toyota celica because it would not retract back into place. I got a new one out of another 83 celica on a online scrapyard for 15.00 plus 10.00 shipping. It inlcuded the belt and retractor. But the problem is I put it back in the car after taking out the old one and it does the same thing?
It will retract back and lock perfectly when I pull on it from below the "hanger" thing that goes to the female connector.
The "hanger" thing is the part where it goes from the retractor to the belt hanger part then over your body.
I am kinda concerned for my safety because of this. I know the seatbelt works but why wont it retract pass the hanger part. It retracts easily and locks easily before that part. I dont think it needs to be lubricated cause I tried using silicone on the hanger and that didnt work.
Thanks,
Owen

er, considering that you replaced one 20 year old part with ANOTHHER 20 year old part, that may be one of the problems.

Maybe its time for a 5 point racing harness

anyway, doesn't the dealer have to fix safety things for free or something? Lifetime guaruntee?
