1993 SHO Frontend Problems???
I have a 93 Taurus SHO that something is messed up in the front but cant seem to figure it out.The problem i am having is when i am driving the wheel is crooked and when i put down the gas the steering goes crazy it pulls like all over the place. Also when i am on the highway and i have to take a right hand curve the steering pulls and lets off and pulls and lets off.If i take a left turn it does just fine. Please let me know if you have any sugestions. Also it has new tie rods and ball joints.

Re: 1993 SHO Frontend Problems???
I would suggest you go to an alignment shop. Their are cams on the struts and doing the ball joints you probably didn't stamp before removing. Is a wheel leaning in or out a sure sign.

Re: 1993 SHO Frontend Problems???
And I'd suggest you don't drive it in the mean time.
On the '93, the struts are just clamped into the steering knuckle and tightened with a single bolt, no cams. But it sounds like something is extremely loose. Maybe the subrame is loose. Maybe the bushings for the lower controls arms are destroyed at the subrame (although they should be new with the ball joints). Maybe the ball joints were not properly tightened. How soon after the tie rod ends and ball joints were replaced did this start happening? Were the tie rods and ball joints replaced by you or at a shop? If at a shop, you might consider taking the car back to them as likely the issue should be fixed for free. If they want to charge you for repair, then you should consider going someplace else that knows what they're doing. -Rod |
