Angry 97 checvy 1500 truck

Hello i have a 97 chevy truck 1500 z71 and it has approx 100k miles on it and i have not had much problems with it except normal replacements like starter and battery ect.

I know have an issue to where my lights along side of the door panel with click on when no one is there.

I can lock with the remote and it stays on but if i get inside and lock it goes off and comes back on again maybe hours or a month apart.

Does anyone have any ideas why this is happening the last time it kicked on and ran my battery down so i unplugged the battery.

Is it possible it might be issues with the factory alarm or maybe a bad door switch.

thanks

Re: 97 checvy 1500 truck

Ayup, I'd check the door switch first, mounted to the side of the dash panel. See if it isn't being depressed far enough by adding a layer or two of duct tape to the mating door surface or check for obstructions that may not be allowing the door panel to properly contact the switch (poorly fitting fuse holder cover?) Check both doors. I'd also check that the tip of the switch hasn't been broken off. While I've never had one fail, I've never been too impressed with its design...long, skinny, and very protruding.

I'd also check that the door is closing all the way. It should be flush with the body and shouldn't move once it is completely shut. It should have even gaps at the top and bottom, too. If you have to slam the door to get it to shut, it's misaligned. The door latch post and hinges can be adjusted to attain a good seal without alot of effort. Hope this helps!

I don't think you can adjust the hinges on this truck-welded on. If the door is sagging, you can get new bushings and pins.
