Need some help.

Hey gentleman and ladies,
I am working on a 1992 Lumina Euro. It starts and runs pretty good, but it will surge in idle from 500-1000 when you come to a stop sign. You have to keep your foot on the gas to keep it running. It does throw a code for a little bit, but it soon goes away. So we have changed, fuel filter, switched the tps with a good running car, new plugs and wires, new thermostat, intake manifold gaskets, new pcv valve. Somebody told me to look at the fuel injectors??? Anything to that, the car has 192,000 miles. Anyhelp would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Ryan

Re: Need some help.

Have you checked to make sure none of your vacuum lines are cracked or leaking?

The idle air controller may be dirty or plugged. Sometimes you can clean it up inside with carb cleaner and a toothbrush.

Re: Need some help.

A bad EGR valve can cause this problem. The EGR valve is electronic on this engine (mounted on the intake manifold, pointing toward the firewall, to the left of the throttle cable connection). If the position sensor in the EGR valve is malfunctioning, it can cause erratic idle. Have the computers codes checked and see what they have to say about it.

Re: Need some help.

I have a 91 Lumina Euro and if you research the threads on this matter you will see that these cars have crummy injectors. Try putting in some injector cleaner and keep putting it in. Many people say just replace the rail with Bosch.
