power range on a 305?

I installed a tac a while back and i have been wondering what the redline is on an '83 305? And also whats the power range, like where the peak power is @ so and so rpm. And yes i know the 305 can barely get out of its own way (at least the carberated one) but i was just curious.

max torque is around 2800-3000rpm..max rpm is around 4500...I wouldn't go over 4000rpm by much though...

you got about 170hp if your lucky...at this age it is more like 130hp..

No way, max rpm is around 4500? What is this thing a diesel lol? Oh well, we all know it aint no race car. And according to the wiki specs my engine i think was rated at 150.

the 150hp is pretty low...for a heavy weight vehicle...also the carb is not a good design with the fuel of today...

just 20 more hp and that would make a big difference..

I believe 4500 is max...the lt1 impala is 5000rpm...over that and the opti falls apart...

Ok well ahh, thats good to know lol. But wait do i have optispark? It just seems like that technology wouldnt exist in 83?

i was on that sight earlier b4 your post and some of the stuff in it is incorrect. the horsepower stuff is right on but i noticed some incorrect entries in the vin section of the site. but other than that its a pretty good site.
