Re: 99 CAVALIER starter

Ok let me get this straight....You replaced the starter because it went bad, now when you turn the key the starter dog or the little gear that engages to turn the flywheel will not retract knowing this you are driving the car anyways and the alternator is burning up. If this is correct the fact that the starter is not retracting will also burn up the starter. It is probably a bad starter that was put on. That is my guess.

Definitely not driving the car just started up the car after the repair and noticed that the starter made an awful noise just like if you were trying to restart the car while running and then the alternator went out replaced the alternator twice and now the battery will not keep charge

Re: 99 CAVALIER starter

Ok that makes sense. Sounds like the starter solenoid is stuck.
