Re: camshaft and crank shaft out of sync
i'm assuming the truck runs so my question is how whould they come out of sync? they are connected by a timing chain that could break but then your truck wouldn't run so if it is throwing codes did you get the numbers? if not stop by your local auto zone and you can use a code reader for freeto retrieve the codes(they will offer assistance if needed) then go online to find out what the codes mean. Chances are you have high miles and are just in need of a tune up (poor mpg, miss or hesitation on acceleration, hard to start hot or cold). another thing to check is the vaccum hoses i've seen them dryrotted on vehicle as new as 2003 and can throw codes or cause high or erattic idle.

Re: camshaft and crank shaft out of sync
Not good but you need someone with a engine capable scanner to check and adjust it.
