Quick question regarding an R32

Hey guys, there's a '91 R32 Sitting outside of town in pretty good shape that the owner is looking to sell, I'm seriously thinking about it, but I'm still really uncertain due to a few things; I'm almost 16 and I just got a job and it's not really the most practical of cars to drive to school, back and in the winter. So I guess it all boils down to how much I want it. Anyway, I was wondering how hard they are to maintain, how they are on gas, should I really start driving with one and anything else I should expect. leave the flames at the door.
