Question '09 aveo5 vs yaris ?

plan to keep for `10 years, dont mind some minor DIY (do it yourself) stuff (head gasket etc is out) - is the Aveo the 21 century version of the Metro (runs forever) ? or if you buy a cheap GM product you get a cheap GM - go for Toyota Yaris ? (want U.S. if possible, lower MPG okay)

The drawback with the Yaris, you pay more for repairs.Toyotas do have lots of electrical problems that can be very expensive to fix.

Re: '09 aveo5 vs yaris ?

I've run a first generation Yaris (when they were still built in Japan) since 1999 and I've had zero electrical problems.
Depending on how you drive, the front wheels can lose grip quite easily and I've tried a few different tyres but the factory fit bridgestones do seem to be the best but they do cost a bit more. This is based on the old engine which has been replaced but I've seen an indicated 118mph and never get less than 40mpg on trips with a tank of fuel doing 300+miles.

On the other hand, the Aveo is a Daewoo at heart and there is no question that it is cheaper and simpler than a Yaris.
Not sure if it is available but the Vauxhall Corsa is a much better car and it usefully bigger than a Yaris. If you're buying new, the new Ford Fiesta is probably the one to get.
