VW Beetle 4cyl Boxer Engine on Nova Sterling
Hello guys.
New to this forum so please correct the posting for i wasn't shure this was the right forum. To make a long story short, me and some friends has taken over semi assembled Nova Sterling kit car fitted with, what look like, an old Beetle Engine. It is a 4cylinder Boxer with Twin carbs and to me, concidering the water hoses already mounted in front of the car, seems to be a liquid cooled version. Can this infact be an old Beetle Engine? We've been told it's a 1.2? Does that makes sense? Basically im in the market of finding out as much about this engine as possible. What to look for, tips and tricks, anything. Links to some sites etc. Apparently it was last starten a year ago and has been standng outside, half assembled, ever since. Inside, after a quick glance of the thing, the engine looks ok. Carbs seems clean, spark plugs fine etc. So if you could post anything that could help my situation it would be great. Btw. Are there any Turbo kits for an engine like this with included manifold etc. Perhaps a twin turbo?

Re: VW Beetle 4cyl Boxer Engine on Nova Sterling
I've now taken som pictures for you to help me indentify the engine.
I would be glad if that would lead to a reference of a manual etc. http://picasaweb.google.com/elbapo08/NovaSterling# |

Re: VW Beetle 4cyl Boxer Engine on Nova Sterling
Classic Beetles never had water-cooled engines.
What you have is probably out of a VW Vanagon. They were the only VW that had a water-cooled flat-four. Also known as the "Wasserboxer" engine. The 1.2 is a designation for 1.2 liters. Same as 1200cc. Are you sure it isn't 2.1? Those engines came in a 1900cc and a 2100cc. Do a Google Search on "Wasserboxer Engine" and you'll get more than enough hits to learn everything you wanted to know about these.
