1993 Caravan SE fuel Pump
I have a 93 Caravan SE 3.1 liter. This van was a free-bee if I would just get it out of the persons yard.It runs great except that it needs a fuel pump. I used to get it going by tapping the gas tank with a rubber mallet. But now it has quit all togeter. I have the van loaded down with all my tools. Kinda like a mobile work shop. All I use it for is going around my property(approx.200 acres) to work on equipment that is away from the house.
Anyone know how to bypass the fuel system to where I could mount a small(1 or 2 gallon tank) up front by the engine bay to have the fuel gravity fed the engine? would this even work? I don't won't to put a new fuel pump in it because they are 200+bucks, I don't have it tagged or insured and will never drive it on the highway. Please help. |

Re: 1993 Caravan SE fuel Pump
Thanks 2000isuzu. I have'nt thought of that. Although I am trying to avoid droping the gas tank. I have the vehicle (over) loaded with tools, my back is about shot, and i really don't have a good place to get under it to drop the tank down. I will keep that in mind .that's a good idea. Thank you again!

Re: 1993 Caravan SE fuel Pump
DO NOT REPLACE THE PUMP WITH ANYTHING BUT OEM PUMP!!!!
My experience is "rebuilds suck!!!" By the way, it has come to my attention that the reason "in tank" pumps fail is that the pump needs gasoline surrounding it to prevent overheating and failure. If you run your tank too low, the pump has no gas to cool it! Jim |
