Knocking

I've been trying to tune my car but I can't figure out why it's still knocking whenever I go WOT or hit my max boost. My cars has 15g turbos and a upgraded fuel pump my injectors are still stock. I know not having upgraded injectors could cause me to run lean but I'm only running 8psi and I have it tuned pretty rich. My Air/Fuel gauge is reading around 10.8 - 11.?? 5k RPM.

I got less knock when when I richened it up more, but am still getting some. So I guess my question is, is it normal to have to run this rich to not knock at only 8 psi? I know 8psi is different on 15gs than it would be on the 9bs, but I still don't know why I'm getting this much trouble at such a low boost level. My datalogger keeps giving me weird readings too, it showed 190 knock counts on one of my runs, I don't know how my engine didn't fail after that. So if anyone can give me some guidance on tuning, it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Re: Knocking

190 is pretty much fake knock. Go put some race gas in the car, as that would kill all knock, and then do another run. If you still have that knock, start looking at motor mounts and things that would make the car see fake knock.

Good to know, although I already have solid motor mounts so it can't be my mounts. Plus whenever I go WOT it feels like it's pulling the timing. It will start pulling then all of a sudden it just cuts out.

Re: Knocking

Yes it will pull timing, your ecu is seeing that knock and will try to cut your power so it doesnt blow up. What do your narrow band 02's look like? Did you have the injectors cleaned, are they new? What fuel pump? What grade fuel?

I haven't looked at my narrow band o2's. My injectors have not been cleaned they are the ones that came with the car when I bought it. Could I just run some injector cleaner through my fuel system? My fuel pump is TRE and my fuel grade is 91. I'm gonna try running some 100 octane and see how it reacts to that.

Re: Knocking

I dont trust injector cleaner but that might not even be the issue, just saying you shouldnt rule that out. I was curious if a front bank or rear bank was going leaner then the other. Have you pressure tested yet? What injector size are you running?

No, I haven't been able to get around to it yet unfortunately. I had to take the car into the shop for a couple of things. I'm hoping I can test it out next week or so, anyway I'll post up how it goes.
