caprice question

hey guys i have a few question about my car im looking at...im thinking about getting a 1985-1990 caprice and i want to take the original engine out and put a 396 engine with headers in it will i have to modify anything or will it fit right in?

It'll bolt in, but you will want to use stronger front springs than what it will likely have - even a 9C1 will likely have worn springs - but you will have to do some other modifications. Stick with nothing newer than 1988 - your 396 will be carbed and the '89-'90 uses EFI (and an in-tank fuel pump). This is to make it easier. Plus, you will need to redo the exhaust.

if you're planning on putting a big block in that you want to put a set of heavier (thicker diameter) coil springs under the front end a progressive rate spring will do wonders for your handeling and ride comfort
