Exclamation colorado brakes

My daughters boyfriend reciently bought a brand new 2006 colorado. He has had it for 2 weeks. The other day his brakes failed and he hit a pole. Has any one else had any problems with their brakes failing?

Re: colorado brakes

No problems at all. I have an '04 and just took it in for inspection, expecting to need new pads. At 38k, the repair man said there is 50% left on the pads. That is remarkable, since I live in a hilly area. Also, no rotor warp yet.

It sounds like a rare problem, and the warranty/insurance should cover all repairs and damages.

Re: colorado brakes

My daughter's boyfriend got his truck back, from the accident last month. They told him there was not a thing wrong with the breaks. Well I do not see how that is so. He was driving home again and lo and behold it happened again. His breaks failed, and there was no holes or bumps in the road, just flat surface. This time he used the emergency brake and stopped after a fishtail. There was one person who saw the whole thing and came to him to see if he was ok. He was I am so glad he has been practicing the use of the emergency break.

Re: colorado brakes

Have them check such things as the vehicle speed sensor. Silverados had a similar problem a couple years ago where the vss went bad and it caused the brakes to fail.

Untrue!
There was a concern of the WSS losing a signal causing an unwanted ABS event that the driver perceved as a brake failure

Re: colorado brakes

Did he try pumping the brakes his master cylinder maybe defective. He needs to try numerous stops somewhere without traffic until he finds a problem. Otherwise he could get in a bad wreck.

Re: colorado brakes

If you work at a dealership maybe you can answer me a question? Page 5 of the warranty guide says 36 months or 36,000 miles, bumper to bumper including tires, and when you call a dealership service dept. "We do not warranty tires", sight unseen. GM did me wrong by denying me warranty on a tire that the cap came off of the carcass before it went flat, causing damage to the rear panel. Extensive damage, the metal is pretty thin. The question is, is this now common policy of GM?

Re: colorado brakes

[ I to have been having problems with the brake of my 05 colorado.. I was almost killed in dallas when i could not stop and ended up in an intersection with cars about to t-bone me..the rear brakes some how seized on me and i was screwed...last night in the snow here in chicago the same thing happened. I pushed the brake pedal and it soulded like metal tearing and the pedal kept pushing back at my foot. man it was loud..ill be taking back for a check up. This one of many problems this truck has...worst thing i have ever owned..and i have owned some pieces of crap.
