97 Ram pick-up (Control Axle Disconnect Issue)
During the summer months I occasionally engage the four wheel drive to keep things from getting stiff as this has happened to me previously. I ran this through it monthly engagement and I see axle fluid discharging out of the
vent/check valve that is mounted on the fender well only when the vehicle is in motion. The overall system seems to be fine, it engages and disengages normally and the 4wd lamp does the same as well. I am the original owner this vehicle and it has always been maintained well and it has 113,000 miles on it. Could this be just a simple axle fluid change or could there be issues with componets of the CAD unit? Thanks |

Re: 97 Ram pick-up (Control Axle Disconnect Issue)
I have to agree with you when you say that something might be wrong with the CAD unit. It might be eng/disengaging fine, but maybe the vacuum unit / diaphragm is broke and pressure is getting by.
