Ranger 3.0 in a 2.9 truck

I have a 1990 Ranger 2.9ltr. Is there a difference between a 3.0 and 2.9 block. Will the 3.0 drop right in a place of a 2.9 without modification. 2.9s are more expensive and not as good as an engine as a 3.0. Any help would be great.. thanks

Re: Ranger 3.0 in a 2.9 truck

Have you looked at www.therangerstation.com at all? They have a lot of how-to's that explain a lot about mods and swaps like the one you provided. I would imagine that if the engine isn't that much newer than the one you're replacing then it'd probably just bolt right in, but I'm no expert. Good luck.
