How did my axle break...1994 Plymouth G-Voyager SE

1994 Plymouth Grand Voyager SE - 3.3 L V6

My car was making a lot of noise last year in the front while turning...a sort of clicking noise. I found out that it was the axles making the noise and I put on two new axles. Nine months later, I'm driving down the road and the left front axle snapped on me and I had to get my car towed to the mechanic.

My question is if this seems like my mechanic screwed up putting it on, if the part is simply defective or if something else that is worn on the front end of my car is causing this axle to break.

Has anyone ever heard a new axle snapping as mine did or is it extremely unlikely that a new part should have broken like that?

Even though this axle is covered under warranty, I don't want it to simply snap again while I'm driving.

Any ideas? Anyone?

Can you give us more spefic's like where did the axle break, Was it the knuckle or shaft itself.

Was the halfshaft installed remanufactored or new and what brand?

Just an update as to the condition of the axle...I wasn't able to confirm where it was broken because my mechanic just fixed the vehicle and took care of everything before I could really get a look at the axle...I'm sure I'll be back here when it breaks again but for now I'm keeping my fingers crossed that it won't happen again.

Ok, so my axle broke again and according to my mechanic, I need to have my front Struts replaced...I know that there is a lot of noise when I go over bumps and I know that they have needed replacement...Could the axle be breaking because of bad struts or could it be something else and is it possibly time to retire this old vehicle of mine before putting more money in repairs???

Did you find out where it broke this time and did it break in the same place again????? Have the braces where the struts been checked for breakage or being rusted throw?? I am sure its possible that they can cause problems but I am not a expert on this problem by no means.

Could it possibly be aproblem with the transaxle or wheel bearing causing this problem. I am assuming that these areas have been checked.

are these halfshafts new ones or remanufactored?

Let us know on failing point and hopefully someone can help.
