For Your Information - Automotive Repair Manuals on CD's

I thought someone could use this INFORMATION - which I just learned about.

I have no affiliation with this organization....just FYI.

Automotive Manuals on CD's and DVD's are now sold by

http://www.autorepairinfo.org/ a Canadian Outfit.

I purchased a manual on E-Bay from them for $15.95 plus $6.95 shipping. (U$S 22.90 total) yesterday.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1998-...spagenameZWD1V

I paid via PayPal, but I think they accept checks and Money Orders.

Seems a more compact way to have a repair manual - especially with multiple cars...

Re: For Your Information - Automotive Repair Manuals on CD's

Autorepairinfo.org E-Mailed me yesterday saying they'd sent it.

When I get it, I will take some "screen shots" (Alt - Print Screen) which puts
the image into the "clipboard" memory, then paste it into my graphics program
(PhotoShop LE and/or Graphic Workshop)

http://www.mindworkshop.com/

then put it on Image Shack or PhotoBucket

http://my.imageshack.us/v_images.php
http://photobucket.com/login/?link=topmenu

then post them here.....

The above is for anyone's FYI......in case you are interested.

Long story short - yes!

BTW - I ordered the CD Manual for a 1999 Suzuki Esteem (Baleno in the UK),
so it won't be useful for Metro's.....There is no regular one (Chilton) for the Esteem !

I will ask via E-Mail if they have the Geo Metro's Manual on CD.

I'm quite sure they would since Geo Metros are a big deal in Canada.

Mine was made there!

Re: For Your Information - Automotive Repair Manuals on CD's

I received the Autorepairinfo.org CD Manual in the mail today.
I purchased mine on E-Bay using PayPal. $15.95 with $6.95 airmail shipping
The CD was Airmailed to me.

It uses Adobe Acrobat with its pdf file format.

This is the Opening Screen after inserting the CD....notice they provide Adobe
Acrobat 8.0 for Windows XP (if you didn't have it) - MAC users have to go to
Adobe's Web Site to get theirs - it is free.

This CD Manual is for a 1999 Suzuki Esteem.

Once you click on the "Enter Manual" button you get the 'Main Menu'

I clicked on the "Transmissions" button and got this menu

I picked a diagram at random

Some diagrams picked at random from elsewhere in the Manual....

Timing Chain stuff

Valve Spring Removal (?)

Vacuum Diagrams

Again, these CD Manuals are $15.95 with $6.95 airmail shipping.

http://www.autorepairinfo.org in Canada.
You can send orders via mail, buy direct with checks or credit cards or buy at E-Bay.

You order most by the make, model and year.

Welcome to the Computer age!

These guys should hire me as a marketing executive - pay me in long, fat Nicaraguan Cigars!

Re: For Your Information - Automotive Repair Manuals on CD's

Doc - looks real nice. I wonder if they scanned the original factory manuals? From what you've shown us, they are pretty detailed. You'll probably get a million requests for info, so not being too proud, I'll ask first: how is the section on electronic troubleshooting? Is it flow chart style? Do they diagnose and give symptoms of each sensor?

Anyway, thanks for the sneak preview. I guess I'll have to pick one up and hope it does the trick for me.

Re: For Your Information - Automotive Repair Manuals on CD's

Remember - the CD Manual I ordered is for a Suzuki Esteem GLX.

If they scanned Shop Manuals, they had to have (or purchased) permission to
do so - otherwise they'd get sued for Copyright infringement!

The "troubleshooting" section is 56 pages long.

I paged thru it.....didn't see Sensor stuff. Did see this...

...General troubleshooting.

BASIC CHARGING SYSTEM TROUBLE SHOOTING CHART
IGNITION SYSTEM TROUBLE SHOOTING
BASIC STARTER TROUBLE SHOOTING CHART
BASIC AIR CONDITIONING TROUBLE SHOOTING CHART
BASIC HEATER SYSTEM TROUBLE SHOOTING CHART
BRAKE SYSTEM TROUBLE SHOOTING CHART
COOLING SYSTEM TROUBLE SHOOTING CHART
GASOLINE ENGINE MECHANICAL - TROUBLE SHOOTING CHART

....PERFORMANCE

CARBURETOR TROUBLE SHOOTING CHART
START SYSTEM TROUBLE SHOOTING CHART - HOT & COLD
BASIC WARM ENGINE DRIVEABILITY SYMTOMS TROUBLE SHOOTING CHART

.....by this time I was to page 19 of 56 pages....

I will let everyone ask the folks who sell this CD Manual any further questions.

There are "Sensor Range Charts" under the "Engine" section.

I don't want to spend any more time going over this CD Manual to show what
it has.

The only thing I would suggest to the folks who sell these CD Manuals is to add
a "FIND" or "SEARCH" function so that one doesn't have to go thru it trying to
find specific things under God knows ???? section.

Anyone interested should contact the Seller
http://www.autorepairinfo.org/
and ask for specifics.

Or order a specific manual....

Re: For Your Information - Automotive Repair Manuals on CD's

We do not scan shop or factory manual (we wouldnt be in business very long if we did) we don't have search engine built in because Adobe Reader has such a good built in search engine that we fiugured ours would be overkill. Sensor Locations are located in the electrical section under Electrical Component Locater. the type of trouble shooting and diagnostics depends and varies from manufacturer to manufacturer, but most provide outstanding giudes. we will send samples of vehicles as needed and answer all concerns either here or in our emails ([email protected] or [email protected]) not sure if thats allowed on these forums, moderators please remove if not..thank you and we'll try and answer all questions in a quick and professional manner....Hats off to DoctorBill for a fine job running and promoting this forum, I think I will enjoy my stay....Regards AutoRepairInfo

Re: For Your Information - Automotive Repair Manuals on CD's

I don't do any "running" of this Forum....I'm too dumb.

But I do promote it whenever I can.

This is one really great Forum.

If you frequent other forums, you run into quite a few "Trolls" and a**holes who
make using the Forums a pain. "Trolls" look for fights and provoke posters into
arguments for the fun of it - usually like little kids.

I have not seen that happening here and it is very refreshing, indeed.

Everyone on this Forum is pleasant and helpful......now let's all sing Coom-by-yah....

BTW - I suggested to autorepairinfo.com that they join this Forum as a member.
In that way, they can answer any questions (private messaging?) and observe
what folks need and want as regards repairing cars.
I did not mean this in any way to be a personal promotion of the CD Manuals sales.

DoctorBill

PS - to autorepairinfo.com - how many of the folks are familiar with Adobe Reader?
Probably few in number. Assuming we all know the jargon and nefarious systems is a mistake
that computer programmers make. I know, I used to write BASIC programs for our
Biochemistry Research Lab equipment when I worked for Bayer Corporation.

The simplest thing to me in my programs was incoherent jibberish to the average person
who had to use them - I assumed everyone would just know what to do....NOT !

For Example - how many people that you know understand how to set the Date on
their Video Tape Recorder/Player? Ask them....LOL

BTW - almost NO ONE ever reads a manual! They just start using a program and bitch
and moan when they screw it up....human nature. You have to lead them by the nose....

Re: For Your Information - Automotive Repair Manuals on CD's

I have seen the errors of my ways! Looking back on Doc's posted pics, I see there are no credits to the diagrams. Usually, there is a claim such as "Typical GM Alternator" . My apologies to the AutoRepair crowd. I just wish I didn't have to pay that 7%PST.
