1990 Trans Sport Overheating during stop/go or still
It seems my van overheats while driving in town or sitting idling.. On the road it appears fine and temps stay about where they should. I was planning ot test the thermostat, and fan and possibly the power relay on the fan. I would like to know if there is anything else I need to check and if there are simple ways to test the power relay. The coolant levels is fine and has appropriate coolant for -40 to 228 temps. I haven't found any leaks and the oil seems to be fine, no sludge or milky color.
I actually have 2 of these vans and the first one I obtained the previous owners had installed a fan switch to manually turn the fan on if it began to get hot, seems the same issue with the second except no switch has been installed. I prefer to fix the problem properly. Any assistance, ideas or suggestions appreciated, thanks. barb |

Re: 1990 Trans Sport Overheating during stop/go or still
ALl else being oK, you made the point in testing for the operation of fans at low speeds when temp goes high. Since you say "fan" and not "fans", I think you do not have A/C.
I's simply connect the fan direct to 12V (check polarity for the fan to rotate in the right direction) and go for a test run just to verify if that checks overheating out.
