Re: Electric Trunk Release Device Problem

Try cleaning the contacts in the remote and a fresh battery. You could even try reprogramming it. I assume you are talking about the rear glass release. Only way to manually release it is to peel back the carpet insert on the rear panel and work with the linkage to release the glass.

Re: Electric Trunk Release Device Problem

ZL,
I hope there's no problem with my jumping in here on this thread.
I have an '04 ZR2. My rear window release just broke today. I can hear it operating but it won't release the window. I'm assuming a cable or catch broke. You mentioned peeling the carpet back on the tailgate. Can it be glued back down or will it probably need to be replaced ?

What breaks is the plastic clip that attaches the electric actuator to the linkage that pops the hatch. If your very careful removing the carpet, it could probably be reglued. Some people have no such luck and wind up destroying the interior panel to get to the hatch release which costs $$$ to replace.
