New Pics of Fujimi Ferrari 250GTO

Ready for release! Fujimi posted pics of a completed 250GTO model. What do our resident Ferrari 250GTO experts think? I know there was a thread some time back comparing the Revell, Protar and Gunze kits.

I hope the Hasegawa wheels fit the Fujimi tires since their wires come w/o tires, but compared to transkits with wheels/tires they end up about half the price, so no real complaints there. The wires look pretty good in the Fujimi kit, perhaps even better than Hasegawa's plastic wires. Some of my old models are getting the Hasegawa plastic wires which are a lot better than many older plastic wire wheels.

I notice that Fujimi even has the oval cutouts in the rear exhaust tips. That's definitely a first for a production kit (Bill Cunningham machined his GTO tips, and then photoetched the ovals into them before he dunked 'em into his Caswells nickel plating setup...they are spectacular, like the rest of his GTO).

The only thing I find surprising is that the tires seem a bit coarse in the pictures - and that, relative only to the superior rubber Fujimi's offered in the past. But everything - e v e r y t h i n g about this kit looks so much more on the money than what we've seen before in any plastic 250 GTO, and fully the measure, or better, of those pricey resin kits.

C A N N O T W A I T to get mine. I'ma order one from one o' them Jap'nese supply houses, then probably pick up another first time I see it in a store.

I saw this car at Amelia Island Concours in 2002 just after it's restoration. I could smell the paint gassing out as it sat in the sun.

Apparently, it was originally this color, or something close, and was repainted red. So, its a good thing it returned to its original color.

I'm sure it was a good restoration, right? Hell, it should be....the last GTO to be on the market was sold privately and allegedly went for 14 million euros.

Fujimi's 250GTO kit is almost perfect. It doesn't have any of the flaws the existing kits have. The only problem I can find from those pictures is the tire--the side should be more round, but it's too flat.

Nevertheless, I already pre-ordered one, and planning to buy some more, including the Deluxe version Fujimi will most likely release sometime later. I want to make some non-red GTOs.

We should do a group build to line-up the entire fleet of the GTO.

As I did my 365 GTB/4 I was forced to try different tire and wheels configurations out to make the Hasegawa wheel set work out on the model. Best is, if you also have some spare tires. I ended up fitting Tamiya Jaguar Mk. II Saloon tires on the 365 GTB/4. If needed these wheels can be widened easily, so there should be no problem to make them fit to wider tires.
So, if you´re interested to make this wheel set fit, prepare to trial and error a little. But it´ll be worth it and less cheaper than any other wire wheel set.

i have ALL the makers' GTO kits (plastic)...so naturally i'll add this to my collection. then i'll decide which one is the best kit.

til now the gunze engine GTO is still the king.

I agree wholeheartedly. If you have a Protar (also current Revell AG kit) 250 GTO, you could use the engine from that kit if if you don't go the Replicas and Miniatures of Maryland version.

Also, KA models does have a 250GTO Detail-up Etched Parts KE-24016 For 1/24 Revell & Protar Kit. It likely can be adapted for the Fujimi or will be upgraded for the Fujimi kit.

Another wheel tire option is Tecnomodel's TACW01 Borrani style aluminum and photo-etch wire wheels and tire set

The Fujimi kit has an engine too, why use a Protar or RMM kit engine?!
